CFA Update – Culture Review Consultation

For many years ASU members have had serious concerns about the culture of bullying and harassment at CFA.  The ASU fought hard for the CFA to conduct a review into the culture at the CFA and we are really pleased that a review has now started.

An independent Review Team from Allen + Clarke, which includes Dr Helen Szoke AO as Lead Reviewer, has been engaged by the CFA to undertake a review of culture and issues management to support the CFA of the future.

ASU strongly endorses this review, and we believe it represents a significant step in addressing the cultural issues across CFA.

The Review will seek to ensure that the CFA:

• has a robust and effective approach to issues management across a complex volunteer-based organisation
• sets and embeds behavioural and cultural expectations at all levels of the organisation
• efficiently and effectively manages issues when they do arise and supports members and leaders to work these issues through.

Consultation sessions are underway, and we encourage members to participate in this process, and to tell your stories. We understand that some of these issues my be difficult for members.
