On Friday the Federal Court heard an application by a union other than the ASU to seek an injunction to stop the CFA PTA Agreement from proceeding.
The injunction sought is complicated but involves the incident management clause of the draft agreement.
As previously advised, the new clause removes all restrictions on the types of Incident Management work that can be performed by PTA staff, meaning that you will be able to perform any role that you are trained and accredited to perform.
The other union argue that this work should only be performed by Operational Firefighters.
The ballot will go ahead as scheduled starting today, with the Federal Court to issue its decision on Friday.
If the Agreement is voted up and the court action is unsuccessful, all staff will be back paid to November 2021. Over the weekend, ASU sought and gained assurances from Government that they will honour these agreement outcomes, including back pay, if the vote proceeds.
The ASU will continue to fight for the best interests of PTA staff.
We will keep members updated on any progress, but the most important thing you can do is vote ‘yes’ for this Agreement, and encourage your colleagues to do the same.
Please forward this newsletter to colleagues, talk to them about the importance of union membership and ask them to join the ASU today via https://asujoin.asn.au/
