Following the recent passing of the Fire Services Reform Bill, the ASU sought an urgent meeting with CFA management to discuss the consultation process.
The ASU met with CFA management late yesterday to express our concern that we still have no idea what the CFA structure will look like post mid-2020, and that there is still no detail about exactly who will be going across to the new entity.
We also expressed concerns about the sudden cancellation of the staff briefings, and the establishment of a broad committee of Emergency Services bodies to oversee communication and consultation. We expressed the view that these briefings ought to go ahead, and that PTA & DMO staff are entitled to be consulted with by CFA management directly.
CFA have committed to get back to the ASU with an update on this by Monday of next week. We will advise members of any progress as soon as it is available.
