ASU Win!
ASU community sector members have been providing vital services to Victorians as we continue to experience the COVID-19 pandemic. In many instances this has meant that they have been potentially exposed to COVID-19 and have been required to isolate. Most employers have required community sector workers to take their own personal or annual leave to isolate.
This is just not fair.
The ASU have pushed the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to fix this issue, and they have now implemented an isolation leave procedure that means community sector workers required to isolate due to a potential COVID-19 exposure at work are not required to use their own leave.
Going forward, if you are told to isolate due to a potential COVID-19 exposure at work please get in touch with the ASU member contact centre at info@asuvictas.com.au or with you ASU organiser and we can raise the matter with DFH who in turn will raise it with your employer.

Congratulations again to the incredible ASU members at Geelong Regional Libraries on their amazing victory! Details of their win includes:
• Average pay increases of 3.38%p.a. for entry-level staff
• Withdrawal of all employer claims to reduce conditions
• 20 days' paid gender transition leave p.a.
• Strict limits on use of short-term contracts
• Full adult wages for staff when they complete Year 12, vs when they turn 21
• Free taxi service to take CBD library workers to their parked cars >8pm
• 5pm closure of all libraries on Easter Thursday, Christmas Eve & NYE with full pay for all staff rostered to work later

Nobody deserves to be discriminated against because of who they are, who they love, or what they believe.
All workers should be protected from discrimination equally.
Right now, the Morrison Government have put forward a Religious Discrimination Bill that would undermine important rights enshrined in state laws that provide workers equal protection from discrimination.
This Bill doesn’t protect people from discrimination. It would expose workers – religious or not – to the threat of being sacked because of who they are or who they love.
Equality is union business. We must come together to show the Morrison Government that our community supports a fair, equal and inclusive society for all.
