The ASU would like to thank all members who completed the member survey and have participated in ASU meetings. Your feedback and input have been valuable at the negotiation table.
As you are aware, the Enterprise Agreement Bargaining Committee met on Thursday 6 May 2021.
The meeting was productive and the ASU was able to clarify several management claims, namely:
- Carers Leave. Your delegates raised their strong objections to any reduction of the carers leave provision. This has resulted in management conceding there is no intention to reduce carers leave. The current entitlement of 5 days leave for each individual care recipient (i.e. 10 days paid leave in total) remains. While we are pleased to hear there is not going to be any reduction to your entitlement for carers leave, the bargaining representatives will continue to seek an increase to this provision.
- The ASU has already been able to obtain agreement from management regarding NAIDOC week leave. The claim was for one days leave during NAIDOC week leave for staff who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
