Since COVID-19 begun, Early Learning Educators across Local Government have faced many challenges from funding shortfalls resulting in higher workloads, stress, health and safety issues, all while educating and caring for our children.

We know that Councils have faced financial consequences from being excluded from funding arrangements such as JobKeeper and free childcare further exacerbated this shortfall. But as free childcare comes to an end, it is almost certain that the other issues won’t go away quickly.

That’s why we have recently surveyed all of our members in Children’s Services, to understand the issues in centres and discuss how we can tackle them together.

ASU Children’s Services delegates are invited to meet via Microsoft Teams together to discuss the results of the survey and the actions moving forward.

We are keen to hear from you if things at each centre have resolved, improved somewhat or not at all.

A meeting will be held via Microsoft Teams details below:

DATE: Tuesday 14 July
TIME: 7.30pm

Don’t forget the ASU recruitment competition is underway until September, $500 is up for grabs for the member who recruits the most new people.
