It’s pretty clear that lockdowns are going to be with us for quite a while to come yet.
Most local government workers are again working from home. Even where we have members attending work, such as the depots, there are arrangements such as starting and finishing on-site, staggered start times and limits on the size of union meetings. This presents a number of challenges for us to talk to non-members and recruit new members.
Last week at the Local Government Delegates Network meeting we discussed strategies for organising and recruiting in lockdown. A copy of the presentations can be found here along with tips on handling objections.
We also discussed the importance of having every Council, Library Service and Contractor represented at the network meetings. Please fill out our survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PCR77MZ) so that we can best schedule meetings to maximise attendance and talk about the things that are important to you.
Enterprise bargaining is also a standing item on our agenda and an EBA Update can be found here.
We are stronger together. Please make sure you come along and that your workplace is represented.
