As you know we sought members feedback to confirm if you supported the ASU to encourage members to No Vote.

We can confirm that the majority of the members that completed the survey have confirmed they do support the ASU encouraging members to Vote No.

It has been confirmed that the access period commences on Wednesday 15 June and runs until Wednesday 23 June, with voting to then take place on Thursday 24 June to Wednesday 30 June.

So we will no prepare the No Vote flyers for members and would also encourage members to forward these flyers onto non-Union Members to also Vote No.

Even though we were able to improve some of the offer the pay increase still falls below ASU members expectations and in addition, your agreement has consent arbitration which means that members cannot use the full extent of the Fair Work Commission to make a ruling on any dispute unless your Council agrees to let them do so.

For these reasons we will not be endorsing the EA and encouraging all employees to Vote No and get a better deal.

For transparency, we have also informed Council that we will be proceeding with a Vote No.

In the meantime, it is never a better time to encourage your workmates to join the ASU so we can have a stronger voice for workers at Boroondara City Council. It’s easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at
