DHHS recently advised Berry Street that it is looking for a new provider to take on the operation of Open Place.
As a result, an urgent meeting was held with ASU members. At the meeting, the ASU sought member feedback on the support they need from the Union during this period of major change.
Members have been clear with the ASU that their preferred option is to be offered the choice of taking their redundancy entitlements with Berry Street OR to transfer to the new provider.
The ASU has urged that Berry Street consider the members stated position should a comparable provider take over the operation of Open Place. Berry is yet to formally respond to this request.
Be assured that the ASU will keep you informed with regards to any developments in this matter and importantly continue to advocate for the best possible outcome is secured for the membership.
It pays to belong to the ASU. If you’re not a member of the ASU, you can join online now at our secure form: www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
