ASU Delegate Brendan Hill and ASU Organisers Colin Houghton and Lorraine Di Pietrantonio met with representatives of Bass Coast Council this morning to discuss the proposed changes to the Code of Conduct policy following the lodgment of the ASU dispute.

Representatives of council confirmed that the policy in dispute will not be halted and they will resort back to the previous policy until the dispute is resolved. This is in line with the EA and a positive step to ensure ongoing discussions between the parties.

Council have committed to providing a tracked changed policy with softer language, which the ASU indicated we will review and provide potential alternatives as required.

It was a positive meeting with council prepared to continue open discussions regarding the policy and a commitment to amend the policy in part to address member concerns.

We will provide further updates once council has provided the tracked change policy.

We hope that these steps indicate a commitment from the ASU to address member concerns.
