Having a strong position in enterprise agreement negotiations depends on experienced workplace delegates in the negotiating team as well as a strong and growing union.
And that’s what ASU members at Latrobe City Council have got.
Recently about 25 depot workers got together to discussed the log of claims, developed by members, and the improvements that need to be made to their working conditions and entitlements.
Improved leave provisions, better employment security and tightening council’s obligation to consult are all included in the ASU members claim.
After discussion on those and other claims, it was clear that the ASU is the union to join and several non members committed to joining their colleagues by signing on.
With the council not following an open and transparent process, it’s fortunate that active and experienced ASU delegates, Linda Davies and Ian Ricketts, are at the table.
