DOES AURORA ENERGY MANAGEMENT THINK THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH INSULTING YOUR INTELLIGENCE?
The ASU urges you to VOTE NO to management’s “latest offer”! Management’s “new” offer has not changed from the last offer apart from the length of the Agreement being reduced to 3 years.
Is this what the Aurora hierarchy think of you?! While they sit on their exorbitant salary packages, they would not agree to any lift in your wage increase whatsoever! Following the proposed Enterprise Agreement not being approved at the ballot on 14 September, management requested feedback as to what issue concerned employees the most with the offer. We advised management that the proposed wage increase was not enough, as it did not keep up with the cost of living, so in effect is a pay-cut. After 3 years of being behind the cost of living, employees expected to at least keep up with Hobart CPI which is currently 2.4%.
MANAGEMENT DIDN’T LISTEN
This is totally insulting, especially given that they provided this unchanged wage offer on the same day that the Annual Report was released. The report states that your CEO’s salary package is in excess of $380,000 and the General Manager – People & Performance is on a pretty little package in excess of $210,000. It is absolutely astounding that they believe you don’t deserve an increase in line with the cost of living.
THEY SAY THE BUCKET IS EMPTY, YET YOU, AS THE VALUED EMPLOYEES OF AURORA ENERGY MADE THEM A NET PROFIT AFTER TAX OF $13.2M!!
MANAGEMENT ARE SITTING IN THEIR IVORY TOWERS NOT IN TOUCH WITH REALITY
To add insult to injury, when the “Offer you get when you’re not getting an Offer” was delivered, there was discussion around how disappointing this was. Management then commented on the Government’s wage cap and said “do you think your jobs are more important than nurses.”
MANAGEMENT IS OUT NOT ONLY OUT OF TOUCH BUT OFFENSIVE TO BOOT
Employee Engagement and Employee Culture Target both received negative outcomes under Key Performance Measures in the Annual Report. The culture results highlighted that there is a declining level of engagement with the result at 50%, down from a high of 63%. Have they considered there may be a correlation between poor wage increases (and loss of entitlements) since the 2015 Enterprise Agreement and this result? Employees certainly aren’t feeling “valued”! The Annual Report states under Employee Engagement: “The results have provided some great insight which Aurora Energy will use to focus its efforts to improve staff experience …”
MANAGEMENT ARE STILL NOT LISTENING
Management has dragged out this whole negotiation process from the very beginning! Money was wasted on a Consultant (even though there is a whole HR team). The Consultant was then sent away because the highly paid General Manager – People & Performance, who could have run the bargaining from the start, wasn’t aware of the negotiations happening at the bargaining meetings!! It then took weeks for management to present an offer that went out to the first vote.
You voted no, so we were back to the bargaining table with feedback. Four weeks later, while management undertook “modelling” to be able to provide an improved offer, they then provided nothing of the kind. This tactic is often used by employers to wear you down – “Voter Fatigue” – in the hopes that you will just give in.
DOES MANAGEMENT THINK YOU CAN’T SEE THROUGH THEIR TACTICS?
Employees have lost faith and trust in management and the business! Time and time again they say one thing but do another. They promised a review of all positions across the business with a view to offering permanency to the extremely high percentage of employees currently in insecure work. This was meant to occur in early September – STILL WAITING…
The business does not value you! The business does not want to change! Show the business how you feel at the ballot box!
