Recently, ASU women gathered in Hobart to celebrate our unity, achievements and solidarity.
Branch Secretary Lisa Darmanin reminded us of the substantial wins our union has notched up, including the world’s first domestic violence leave entitlement in an industrial agreement, equal pay and portable long service leave for community workers. She also spoke of our continuing fight against job insecurity and privatisation.
We also heard from Rebecca White, leader of the Tasmanian ALP, who spoke about the importance of women’s visibility at work and in their union.
It was a greats way to prepare for the Union’s Tasmania Women’s Conference being held the next day.
Many thanks to our hard working delegates and activists from across Tasmania and a big shout out to the staff of the ASU Tasmania office and our sisters from Unions Tas. United we stand.
