A few weeks ago, despite heavy opposition from the ASU and ANMF, Moonee Valley City Council Director Steve Lambert told staff working in the Environmental Health Unit that their jobs would be changing. There would either be a scaled-back internal structure or jobs would be outsourced.
This decision has now been reversed.
After a meeting with the ASU, Moonee Valley City Council CEO Bryan Lancaster told those workers in the Environmental Health Unit that their jobs will stay in-house and not be scaled back.
This is a huge win for ASU and ANMF members!
Staff in the Environmental Health Unit provides crucial services including ensuring critical safety standards are upheld across the municipality. As part of this unit, Maternal Child Health Nurses and providing invaluable support to new parents and children in the community.
Services like these are core council business and must not be put at risk through outsourcing!
