Unions Tasmania has an extensive program of events for women throughout the year.
After a successful International Women’s Day March in Hobart, the next event on the calendar is the annual Unions Tasmania Women’s Conference. The conference will be held on Friday 7 August 2020.
The Unions Tasmania Women’s Conference is the largest event of its kind in the country, with around 100 women attending last year’s conference in Hobart.
This year’s event will be held at the Kingborough Community Hub and registrations will open soon.
Another exciting opportunity for Tasmania’s women unionists is the chance to participate in the Anna Stewart Memorial Project.
The Anna Stewart Memorial Project is designed to encourage more women to be active in unions. It will run from 3 to 7 August this year and is a structured, week-long internship program consisting of workshops, panel discussions, excursions and campaign actions; all culminating in the attendance at the Women’s Conference at the end of the week.
Participants in the program build life-long connections and networks with other strong union women and are forever known as an Anna.
The ASU would also like to congratulate ASU organiser Karen Tantari for being elected chair of the Unions Tasmania Women’s Committee.
It’s a testament to Karen’s work, and the ASU’s leadership on issues affecting women in the workplace, that she has been elected to this position.
