We know many ASU members have been affected by the bushfire crisis facing our country.
ASU members are also involved in the firefighting effort and working around the clock supporting affected communities and to help those most impacted by the fires.
If you need help with accessing leave or other workplace entitlements please contact us on 1300 855 570 or email@example.com, we are here to help.
- No worker should be forced to work in dangerous environments, including workplaces impacted by the smoke haze. Smoke pollution levels are beyond hazardous in many parts of the country. While the critically important work to fight and recover from the fires must continue, any worker who is concerned about their health and safety should contact their union. For general information you can download a fact sheet here
- Workers should be aware that the National Employment Standards provides for unpaid leave for the full period of time that workers are engaged in volunteer firefighting and other emergency service work. Your union-negotiated enterprise agreement may include paid leave entitlements.
If you have been financially impacted by the fires you can also apply for a temporary waiver of your union fees. Simply reply to this email or call our membership team on 03 9342 3400 if you’d like more information about our fee waiver process.
Solidarity to all members and communities impacted by this crisis.
Take care and stay safe.
