The ASU is keeping the pressure on the Victorian Government about the unfair wages cap for public sector wages.
The unfair wages cap applies across the public sector including t water authorities, catchment management authorities, VicRoads and the CFA.
Branch Secretary Lisa Darmanin didn’t hold back a fortnight ago in the Sunday Herald Sun about the prospect of politicians pay increasing while they are holding down workers’ wages. You can read the story here.
The Victorian Government’s wages policy is to supress wage growth in the Victorian public sector to no more than 2% each year.
This is bad for public sector workers and bad for the Victorian economy.
Our position is simple: workers in the public sector should be able to bargain with their employer in good faith to achieve fair pay rises.
We will keep fighting against the Victorian Government’s policies that suppress wage growth. But until we are successful, we expect politicians to live by the same rules they set for everyone else.
