Congratulations!  We’ve received news from the Australian Electoral Commission that the Glenorchy City Council Protected Action Ballot was SUCCESSFUL.

This result comes despite the challenges of having a severely underfunded AEC in Tasmania and the unprecedented postal delays experienced during this ballot.  We were up against it but ASU members have now officially reserved the right to take industrial action.

Taking action remains our last resort.  ASU bargaining representatives will be attending enterprise bargaining meetings with management today, where we will be reporting this news and calling on management to agree to the Log of claims presented on behalf of ASU members.

Despite a number of meetings, Council is largely yet to respond to the claims.

The General Manager has time to sort this out.  If progress towards a reasonable offer is not presented at today’s meeting we will back in touch to ask members what you want to do.  After all, YOU are the union, and we will be guided by you every step of the way.
