Members at Uniting AOD/MH recently contacted management requesting that entitlements previously provided under the Regen Collective Agreement be provided in policy. Delegates Jo, Corinn and Gene, and Organiser Tim, then met with management who confirmed that Uniting will provide:

  • 2 weeks paid parental leave for ‘secondary carers’;
  • Study leave in accordance with policy at each ‘pre-merge employer’; and
  • Cultural and ceremonial leave under the award, acknowledging that management needs to look at providing this to all staff with cultural and ceremonial needs.

Members also requested 5 days of wellbeing leave, which was rejected on the outdated premise that staff should use personal leave for wellbeing purposes. Despite that, this is a great win resulting from workers showing that they’re Union and are worth more than the bare minimum entitlements.
