Kevin Bowd, a recently retired ASU Delegate from Qantas Airways in Hobart, has been awarded Life Membership of the ASU by the Branch Executive.
Kevin has been a member of the ASU for almost 22 years. He first joined the ASU when he was employed with Ansett in their Contact Centre in Launceston. Following a financial collapse Ansett ceased operations in 2002 and Kevin was immediately successful in obtaining a position at the Qantas Contact Centre in Hobart.
Kevin has always been an active ASU member, providing his knowledge and support to both members and delegates alike. Kevin was elected to fill a role as ASU delegate at the contact centre in 2011 and has been actively involved in negotiation of the national ASU EBA at Qantas, covering more than 5000 employees, and multiple high level negotiations with upper management and the Industrial Relations team.
Kevin has been a wealth of union knowledge at the Qantas contact centre and has been instrumental in recruiting some of the most active union members and delegates the Tasmanian branch has ever had.
Congratulations Kevin on being awarded the highest honour the Branch can bestow on a member.
