The ASU office wrote to council on behalf of members impacted by the closure of Spurway. We requested the timeline for feedback be extended, as we held serious concerns members were unable to provide adequate informed feedback by 6 April.

The ASU and the ANMF attended a snap meeting with Council on Wednesday 31 March to discuss an agreed way forward on behalf of members. We reached agreement on the following:

  • an extension of the consultation timeline until16 April
  • Council will be sending out expressions of interests for all vacant roles/shifts to all affected staff
  • staff can identify if their preference is a redundancy or to stay, but there are no guarantees
  • we are looking at holding a face-to-face member meeting with PCD on 13 April at 10am so members have an opportunity to ask any more questions or raise concerns. This meeting is not locked in yet, but once it is, we will confirm as soon as possible!

We know it is a very stressful time for you all but standing together makes us stronger.

By encouraging your workmates to join the ASU we will have a stronger voice for workers at Glen Eira City Council. It is easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at
