Elections are not just a time when we get to hear what politicians think – they are also a time when ordinary voters can let politicians know what about their priorities.
So the ASU held forums in Burnie and Launceston, inviting candidates from Braddon and Bass to attend. This included invitations to current Liberal MPs who are both contesting the election.
In Braddon, Labor (Chris Lynch), Greens (Darren Briggs), and Jaquie Lambie Network (Sophie Lehman) candidates, as well as Independent candidate Craig Garland all came along to the forum
In Bass, Labor’s candidate Ross Hart and Greens candidate Cecily Rosol were there to hear from ASU members.
Unsurprisingly, major topics of discussion at the forums were workers’ rights and the Fair Work Act as well as health and education.
We appreciate each of the candidates taking the time to listen to the priorities of ASU members and wish them well in the upcoming election.
