We attended an EA meeting on 9th February 2022 in which Council advised they cannot agree to back pay to the first pay period after 1/7/2021 and sticking to their offer of back pay from 1/12/2021 but Council did agree to add the additional plant to the plant list.

However, as we have not been able to reach an in-principal agreement with Council as per our members instructions we will now prepare to run a No Vote and apply for protected industrial action orders. Please make sure you encourage staff to vote No!

Access Period commenced on 14th February and close on Wednesday 23rd February 2022. Council has to provide access to all staff the EA document and summary document.

Voting Period will commence 8am om 24th February and close at 4pm on 28th February 2022. An independent voting company will handle the voting process and will send each eligible staff member an email and or a SMS.  Staff can also vote via phone.

If 50% plus 1 of the staff that vote, vote No, then we can get the Council back to the bargaining table.

It is imperative that you make sure your member contact details are up to date with us, Council, and the Australia Electoral Commission otherwise you will not receive voting papers for protected industrial action if they don’t match up.

In the meantime, it’s never a better time to encourage your workmates to join the ASU so we can have a stronger voice for workers at Hepburn Shire Council. It’s easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
