ASU members at South East Water have contacted the Union about a meeting that occurred recently, where a restructure was announced.
Staff were told that the Call Centre, Credit, and Customer Care areas were to be restructured and that everyone would need to reapply for their own jobs.
This kind of ‘spill & fill’ process is completely unacceptable. Where a position is continuing in the organisation, then the incumbent should never have to reapply for it – restructure or not.
The ASU will not stand for this, and we have made representations to management as such. Management has advised the announcement was premature, and they would consult with the union and affected staff as soon as a proposal has been developed.
But they have not categorically ruled out a ‘spill & fill’ process, and we call on them to do so immediately.
