On Monday 28th March 2022 Council lodged a dispute against the ASU with Fair Work Commission as we had confirmed that the consultation process was still in dispute as they had not provided all the relevant information we had requested.

We attended a Fair Work Commission conciliation conference on Monday 4th April, and we have been able get Council to agree to meet with ASU on Tuesday 5th April so Council can provide the ASU with an overview of the managers’ report they are proposing to submit to the Councillors.

This will give us insight into their proposal being presented to Councillors and an opportunity for ASU to provide any final feedback or recommendations on the proposal that can be added to the report before it is submitted to the Councillors.

The Councillors will be then voting on a decision on the ongoing future of Active Ageing on Monday 11th April which starts at 6.30pm and is a public meeting held in person at Council Chambers, 8 Ingelsby Road, Camberwell.

It is vital that we have as many members as possible, your family, and friends attend the Council meeting, and the ASU will meet you out the front at 6pm.

We will keep you updated so please keep a look out in your email inbox or mobile phone for future updates and please don’t forget to sign the petition and encourage other staff, family, and friends to do so too.

Sign the petition now and let’s show the Boroondara City Council that we don’t want aged care to be privatised in our community.

By encouraging your workmates to join the ASU we will have a stronger voice for workers at Boroondara City Council. It is easy for anyone who is not yet a member to join online at www.asu.asn.au/asujoin
