Council has decided to: 

  • terminate 19 positions in Community Life! 
  • cut the budget in the libraries by $1.1 million which will lead to proposing the closure of several libraries, along with reducing hours and closing early on Saturdays and closing Sundays! 

Council has also indicated further cutbacks in Leisure & Rec and further departments at council with discretionary cuts of a further $4.5 million. Council stated at its previous meeting there is a $15 million blackhole in the budget. Who’s next?  

ASU are organising a community protest at next council meeting, please come along, support these workers and give council a clear message!
