I am writing to let you know that our Assistant National Secretary, Linda White will be departing the union next month.
Linda’s work with members in the airlines sector has spanned 20 years, from representing workers in the Ansett collapse, to eight EBAs covering two decades at Qantas and numerous other airlines including Jetstar, Virgin, Qantas and Singapore airlines.
Her work has been important to some of our major achievements over the past 20 years such as achieving equal pay for social and community service workers, putting the issue of women’s unequal superannuation outcomes on the map and the first domestic violence leave provisions in the workplace anywhere in the world.
Most recently, Linda’s work leading the national campaign and growth team has seen major change and innovations such as the Career Launchpad professional development platform which many of you have taken advantage of and a range of other initiatives designed to improve your experience with the union.
Fortunately for the union, Linda’s commitment to professional development and succession planning means that we are rich with talent to fill her shoes and we thank her for the careful and deliberate planning she has put into her departure in the past 6 months.
We look forward to remaining in contact with Linda and wish her the very best with her plans for the next stage of her professional life.
On a personal note, I want to thank Linda for everything she has done – she exemplifies the great things about our union – putting our members first and always striving for better outcomes for the people who make our union great – you.
