Last month we shared news of ASU members standing up for better conditions and fair pay at work.
Since then, members of our union who work at Moorabool Shire have shown that despite real challenges, when workers stand together, workers win.
These workers could have been disheartened when non-union members represented by a non-union association disrupted industrial action by backfilling work. But they stood together, remaining focused on their goal of a better enterprise agreement.
And they won.
ASU members fought off an attack on their conditions which included structural inequalities that would disadvantage women. The agreement will also provide a decent pay rise for the lowest-paid workers.
These ASU members at Moorabool deserve our congratulations.
More importantly, they set an example for all workers – union members united and focused on better pay and conditions will win every day of the week.
