Members of our union deliver the services Australians rely on every day. The services provided right across our industries are essential in communities right across Victoria and Tasmania.
From picking up our waste and managing the water we drink, the power we use, roads we drive on and libraries we visit right through to looking after our children in childcare and delivering the community services so many of us rely on, ASU members are an essential part of our communities.
But the contribution ASU members make doesn’t end when we leave work for the day. Our union counts thousands of volunteers and activists that make the places we live into real communities.
It’s this community spirit that has been central to our union’s success in changing Australia. Through their activism, ASU members have achieved Equal Pay in the Social and Community Services sector and led the world on family violence leave – an achievement that began at Surf Coast Shire Council in Victoria.
And it’s the same community spirit that drives our delegates to make things better for their workmates every day of the year.
So as the end of the year approaches we want to say a big thank you to the activists in our union.
