Moonee Valley City Council - Your EA and Other Union Wins

18 April 2024

Enterprise Agreement Negotiations
Most of you know that the pay offer for the EA is not where members want it to be. But your delegates have been working hard to secure some early wins:
  • Protecting Incinerator Gallery, Crown Street Stables & Djerring Hub from reduced conditions
  • Paid tea breaks for libraries staff
  • Protected, guaranteed & paid program planning time for Childcare staff
  • Changed definition of “family” to include chosen family, to create fair access to leave
  • Agreement to clarify Aged Care schedule
  • Improvements to Clocktower conditions to ensure staff are paid equally for equal work
Keep an eye out for invitations to union meetings in your work area to consider where we’re up to with negotiating the agreement’s work-area-specific schedules, and whether you want negotiations on your schedule to continue.

Other union wins
Here’s a sample of the other wins you’ve been securing at MVCC:
  • Underpayments paid back, and 3-team-leader “trial” abolished, in Aged Care
  • Recent Arts, Culture & Events restructure – ASU members provided highly organised feedback, leading to significant improvements in the proposed structure
  • Many members of Djerring team joining the union to advocate for themselves and the Flemington community
Advice about the CFMEU
Depot members will be aware that the CFMEU is trying to recruit members at the depot. Please keep in mind that CFMEU does NOT have coverage of local government, and will be unlikely to be able assist you with anything at work. Stay together in one union, stay strong!

The ASU is by your side. Talk to a co-worker about the importance of union membership and ask them to join the ASU at https://www.asuvictas.com.au/VICTAS/Join
