A message from Lisa Darmanin, Branch Secretary – February 2024

31 January 2024

Hello and welcome to 2024.

The ASU has made a flying start to the year, with members at Moira Shire Council winning an in-principle agreement from their employer to provide what is LG Victoria’s best pay increase offer.

How did they do this? By standing together and telling the council their initial offer was unacceptable, and members were willing to take industrial action if it was not improved. It’s the core of the union movement – solidarity and security in numbers, and it works.

The ASU is also seeking to help community health workers as part of a larger working group reviewing clinical supervision practices across community health.

This vital piece of work will have implications for not only how workplaces undertake clinical supervision but also form the basis for how other community organisations provide supervision.

As always – if you have colleagues who are interested or impressed by what the ASU can do – tell them membership is the best way to learn more and achieve a workplace that works for you.

In Solidarity
Lisa Darmanin, ASU Vic Tas secretary
