Zoe’s work experience at the ASU

01 July 2026

I recently did a week of work experience at the Australian Services Union. I got an understanding of how the union supports their members and the work that happens behind the scenes.

During the week I attended bargaining sessions and meetings online that help get better conditions for workers.

I also saw how ASU lawyers help and support their clients.

I joined staff on visits to different sites in Melbourne.

Working with the ASU team made me appreciate how hard they work to help members. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. I am thankful for the chance to be part of such an amazing workplace. The Australian Services Union does work to support all the people around them regardless of their race, fanatical position, gender or identity and I learned a lot about their role in helping workers and their communities.

It was an experience that taught me a great deal about the role of unions, like the role that the Australian Services Union plays in supporting workers and their communities.
