Wangaratta - Send a message and vote no

03 June 2026

From the beginning of this bargaining process, members made it clear what they wanted, to be roped into the Regional LG Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA) and secure the stronger outcomes that come with bargaining together. Council chose to ignore you.

To try and find a compromise your ASU officials asked council to consider a shorter, 2 year agreement. Again, council has refused.

Despite repeated feedback from members, council has continued to dismiss union members and push ahead with an agreement that fails to address your wishes.

This upcoming vote is your opportunity to send a strong message back.

While the threat of joining the MEA has resulted in significant improvements in management’s current offer compared to what we’ve seen in previous Agreements, voting yes to this offer tells council that ignoring members is acceptable.

Voting NO sends a message that workers expect to be listened to, respected, and genuinely negotiated with.

A NO vote sends a clear message that members will not simply accept being sidelined while other councils across the region secure better outcomes through stronger multi-employer bargaining.

When the ballot opens, stand together and vote NO.

Only with a strong NO vote can we force council to genuinely consider roping into the MEA.
