Snap strike and rally at Parliament House

The ASU has called a snap strike and rally for this Thursday, 30 July.

This action will see ASU members from Darebin, Greater Dandenong, Hobsons Bay, Hume, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Merri-bek and Yarra stop work from 10am to 2pm in order to rally at midday at Parliament House.

The Herald Sun has reported that meaningful rate capping reform to deliver fair pay is within reach. This action is necessary to ensure the State Government and the Parliament deliver this necessary reform.

You can commit to attending by registering here. We will have buses to bring members to the rally and then return to work, but pre-registration before 5pm on Tuesday is essential.

This is the critical moment of our campaign. Thousands of ASU members signed petitions, voted in ballots for MEB, joined in work bans and marched on the Victorian Parliament as part of two historic strike actions.

Our fight for fair pay requires the State Government to fix the funding problems that have been holding your wages back. And now everything we have been fighting for is within reach.

The State Government is considering changes to rate capping to ensure council worker wages are properly factored in. This change would remove the biggest barrier to fair pay for you and thousands of other local government workers.

Now we need to hold the politicians accountable and make sure they deliver.

ASU Strike Fund
The ASU has established a strike fund to provide financial assistance to members who lose pay as a result of taking protected industrial action.
