SACS mass member meetings, campaign taskforce, delegate network and training

Campaign Taskforces
We want members to be front and centre of our campaigns, our media and lobbying efforts. That is how we will win!

We are finalising our campaign planning, media and lobbying taskforces. If you’d like to learn a bit more about it or nominate, you can do that here.

These taskforces don’t require a huge time commitment from you but will be central to the success of our campaign.

Delegate networks
If you’re a union delegate and keen to come along to a Delegate Network, invites are sent out every month. The next Delegate Network is on 16 July 2026 at 12pm. If you’re a delegate but don’t think you’re receiving the invitations, email [email protected] to get more info.

Each month we talk about Campaign Updates, what the organising team is working on, hear from workplace delegates and/or provide some training on a different delegate skill. Delegate networks are a great way to get a monthly refresher and engage with other ASU delegates.

Occupational Health and Safety in SACS
We have done a lot of work looking at the psychosocial wellbeing of members in SACS. The “Your Voice in Community Services” Survey that many of you completed in late 2025-early 2026 has provided us a wealth of data about the wellbeing of the sector.

We know that SACS workers face escalating workloads, trauma exposure, and burnout, with ~50% reporting constant pressure and 55% considering leaving due to stress. Inadequate supervision, bullying, and weak psychosocial safety systems are widespread, especially affecting women, non-binary, and lived experience workers. Rising client complexity and chronic understaffing intensify risks.

The survey results make it clear that job design must include caseload caps, trauma-informed supports, qualified supervision, psychosocial safety systems, and secure, fairly paid roles with career pathways.

Bottom line: Psychosocial harm is systemic and must be addressed through job design—not left to workers. We will be factoring this into our work and prioritising setting up
