International Women’s Day is commemorated on 8 March in recognition of the global movement, built by trade unions, that won the right for women to vote.

This year we will be commemorating the day earlier on Monday 2 March 2026 at the Unions Tasmania International Women’s Day event in Franklin Square, Hobart.
