Community Legal Centres MEA – Access Period, Vote, Where to Next?

13 March 2024

The access period for the Community Legal Centres Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA) is open. This is your time to consider the employer group’s offer, which does not have ASU sign-off.

The vote opens next week on this agreement, and while we recognise that the employers have added 3 days annual leave to their previous offer, many big ticket items remain unresolved. For instance, there’s been no movement on an enforceable classification structure, workload management provisions, or decent pay increases.

For more info, including a run-down of what happens if you vote yes, or vote no, see these FAQs.

The ASU encourages you to make an informed decision on this, as there are some pitfalls in this process depending on your situation.

We’re also aware of some employers telling staff that the ASU is seeking pay rises that would require cuts in other areas of the budget. This is a tale as old as time, and somehow never comes to fruition.

Plus, in the next round of bargaining, we intend to have the government in the discussion so that we can lobby them to fund CLCs better.

We’re stronger together. Ask a co-worker to join the ASU to get a better deal on your enterprise agreement. It’s easy to join at https://www.asuvictas.com.au/VICTAS/Join
