CFA - Proposed Settlement on DMO/TO EA

22 February 2024

The CFA and Unions met for facilitated discussions with former Fair Work Commissioner Julius Roe on Friday.

Roe recommended a solution to our dispute that includes:
A $5000 Lump Sum payment, a living away from home allowance, grandfathering of the current provision for substitute days for public holidays, so existing staff will continue to get this, immediate translation to pay point 1 in the new structure, then progression to pay point 2 on 1 July 2024, and an exchange of letters to deal with the provision of workwear.

Full details of Roe’s recommended settlement can be found here.

He asked that CFA respond to this recommendation by COB Wednesday 21 February. At 4:42pm on Wednesday, CFA advised Unions that they had agreed to this recommendation.

ASU has agreed to immediately withdraw all work stoppages and provide ‘in-principle’ agreement, pending the outcome of a vote of all members on this proposed resolution.

ASU delegates recommend endorsing this agreement. Whilst it doesn’t deliver everything we wanted, it does see significant wins for staff, including the implementation of a new pay and classification structure in which staff will get three pay rises in the next four months, plus a $5000 sign-on bonus.

Now is over to you - all CFA DMO ASU members are asked to participate in a poll on this proposed settlement.

Voting closes COB this Friday 23 February.

A huge thanks to all of our fantastic ASU DMO members at CFA. And in particular, to your incredible Union delegates Gavin Hore, Glen Mumford, and John Dowthwaite.
