Ballarat City Council Fair Work Hearing and Work Stoppages

07 June 2024

Members across Council have agreed to engage in a 1-hour work stoppage from 10:30am to 11:30am Thursday 13 June. All members are encouraged to stop work and join representatives from across the workforce on the steps of the Town Hall to send a strong message that the Ballarat Council workers deserve a fair pay rise.

Your ASU organisers and delegates will be attending a Fair Work hearing at 9.30am and will be able to provide a live update on the progress of any discussions.

Council has indicated that they will be putting the enterprise agreement with the current wage offer of 3.5% out to vote around June 18 and 19. The ASU is recommending members vote no to this wage offer.

Your delegates are also discussing further stoppages for Friday next week for particular work groups. More information will be provided about this next week. Please keep in touch with your delegates.

The ASU is by your side. Talk to a co-worker about the importance of union membership and ask them to join the ASU at https://www.asuvictas.com.au/VICTAS/Join
