A piece of research that we have been coming back to constantly in our day-to-day work is the report conducted by AHURI on Workplace trauma on the social housing and homelessness frontline. This has been coauthored by a former ASU delegate, Deb Batterham. The research provides powerful insights into the workplace trauma that workers in the sector are routinely exposed to, and some principles and measures that could be used to address these.

While improving pay is a factor identified, the report makes evidence-based suggestions about improving safety infrastructure, management training, job design and caseloads, and workplace supports such as supervision and reflective practice.

The organising team will be incorporating this incredible research into our planning and advocacy.
