Low Recognition and Reward


Low recognition and reward occur when you are not formally or informally recognised or rewarded, or when the recognition and reward does not adequately match the effort put in.

It can also include recognition and rewards that are unfair or biased, not receiving feedback or recognition, unfair negative feedback, limited development opportunities and not recognising skill level of workers.

Feeling valued, recognised and appreciated for your effort and contribution is fundamental for a dignified working life.

Low recognition and reward become a psychosocial hazard when it is severe, prolonged, or recurring. When this happens, it is a health and safety risk that should be resolved because experiencing hazardous low recognition and reward can be harmful to our mental health.
