Today the Victorian Government announced new restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
- From 11:59 pm tonight, in the local government areas of Colac-Otway, Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Moorabool, Golden Plains, and the Borough of Queenscliffe, you will no longer be able to visit people or have visitors at your home.
- And from 11.59 pm on Sunday 2 August, it will be mandatory to wear a mask or face covering when you leave your home no matter where in Victoria you live.
These new restrictions, and those already in place in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, will not stop the transmission of the coronavirus on their own.
We need to keep doing simple but important things like washing our hands regularly, social distancing, as well as coughing or sneezing into our elbow.
Importantly, workplaces continue to be a significant risk factor in the spread. When at work, it’s important we all follow the guidelines relevant to our work and be safe. And we all need to stay home and not go to work if we have any symptoms. And if we do have symptoms, we all need to get tested. You can find information about getting tested here.
The ASU is here to support you in your workplace and advocate for our collective interests outside it.
So let us know if you are having trouble accessing leave if you need to self-isolate, or are having difficulty accessing the Victorian Government’s $300 payment for those who don’t have leave and are required to self-isolate after a test.
Finally, our union has purchased a limited number of ASU facemasks for members. We will prioritise front-facing members in the distribution of the masks. If you would like us to get a mask to you, let us know here.
