City of Greater Geelong has released their draft budget recently – with proposed cuts to balance the books! The budget is open for community feedback until 24 May. This is an opportunity to provide feedback and oppose some of the cuts to services they are seeking.
The Australian Services Union will be holding a community meeting this Thursday night May 18 to take community members through the proposed budgets and next steps. We will take you through the ins and outs of the budget and how submissions can be made.
Some of the key concerning features of the budget are:
Cuts to Geelong regional library services
Cuts to Community Life
Cuts to Leisure and Recreation
Further “discretionary cuts” of up $4.5 million
