As from July 1, 2012 the Concessional Contributions limit for superannuation contributions will be reduced to $25,000 for everybody.
Concessional Contributions includes employers' Super Guarantee, employer voluntary contributions and employee salary sacrifice.
The limits for this financial year (2011/2012) are:
Under Age 50 - $25,000
Over Age 50 - $50,000
Proposed legislation to allow those over age 50 - who have superannuation account balances of less than $500,000 to continue to contribute up to $50,000 - has been deferred by two years until 2014.
